there is a major difference between MMA and self-defense. Not knowing that difference could cost you your life!

Efficient Warrior Blade Concepts

The use of a blade for protection is Practical, Efficient, and Easily Learned.

The system of blade craft taught in our classes, instructional videos and seminars is a system developed by the author after 50+ years in training the science of the martial arts. We speak of concepts purposely because a concept can be applied in a number of ways, and does not limit the trainee to a boxed in application. The old saying comes to mind .... "There are a lot of ways to skin a cat" well, we just want the cat skinned, and don't really care how you do it!

Anytime you are empty handed facing an armed aggressor, you are in a position of disadvantage. With the popuarity of MMA, a lot of people go that route in order to learn "self-defense". But MMA is a "Combat Sport" not a self defense system or "martial art". Here is the key ..... if you are not practicing "modern" weapons, you are not learning a "martial" system.

Even traditional martial art systems that teach such things as Nunchaku, Spear, and Tonfa are not teaching a "martial" system that fits into our modern society! This is precisely why we are focusing on the "tactical folder" and “small fixed blades for self-protection. We want you to learn a system of self- protection for today, not keep an outdated tradition alive!

The framework principles of the EWBC method is as follows

  • Protect and minimise injury to yourself.

  • You will usually begin a defensive situation empty handed. Learn enough empty hand skills to at least buy time to get to your blade.

  • Always carry at least one blade or suitable substitute.

  • Cut whatever is closest to you in order to discourage the attacker from further aggression.

  • Cut to limit anatomical function rather than to kill if possible.

  • Escape at the earliest safe opportunity.

What we present here will be a good starting point from which to build a system of self-protection for our current urban environment

MORALITY OF THE KNIFE???

Morality of the knife sounds strange doesn't it? Well, I have a very good reason for calling a knife a moral tool, when compared with other tools of self-protection. With a knife you can somewhat scale the amount of damage you do to the attacker. You can choose to cut or stab a limb such as his grabbing or attacking arm, or his leg rather than targeting his neck which is much more likely to result in a fatal cut to an artery. Cutting the attackers bicep can diminish his capacity to attack you, create an escape opportunity for you, all while reducing the damage you have done to the attacker to a wound which can be surgically corrected, rather than taking his life. This cannot be said of a tool such as a gun!

Having Something Sharp for Protection is God's Design

Anatomical Targeting to Diminish Function is Extremely Efficient

A Blade doesn't have to be big to be Extremely Effective

A "Tactical Folder" AKA "Pocket Knife" is also a great and Practical Choice

Impact Tools - Stick and Cane

Master your defense with impact tools. Baton and Cane Self-Defense—short, sharp sessions turning everyday items into into reliable shields. Learn strikes, blocks, vital points. No experience needed.

Grip, swing, survive. Real-world moves from an Efficient Warrior. Small class, big confidence.

Baton / Stick

Pack light, fight smart—your baton or stick turns everyday carry into instant backup. Swift strikes, solid blocks, crush threats before they touch you. Proven moves from cops and pros, zero fluff. Walk bold.

Collapsible Batons / Sticks keep you low-profile—just pocket it, flick it out when needed. Steel core hits like a hammer, extends fast without fumbling length. Locks solid, retracts safe, way lighter than wood canes yet tougher than aluminum. Legal in more states than knives, and most folks won’t bat an eye at first glance

Cane

Efficient Warrior Cane Program (Cane Pro) program stands out for real-world self-defense because it’s built for practicality, especially for folks who actually need a cane—like older adults or those with physical limitations.

Key advantages he highlights:

• Super simple and quick to learn—just Basic sequences of moves (like combos of snaps, thrusts, and swings) that anyone can pick up fast, no fancy martial arts background required.

• Easy to apply even with limited strength, speed, or reflexes—unlike traditional stick-fighting systems that demand high fitness and fall apart against real attacks.

• Works with any everyday cane—no need for special designs; focus on comfort, weight, and durability.

• Targets “Mobility Neutralisation”—hit lower legs, shins, knees to drop the threat fast so you can escape, plus thrusts to solar plexus, groin, or throat in tight spots.

• Adaptable to any situation—scales up for able-bodied users who carry it as a discreet weapon, and it’s effective in close quarters or open areas.

• Discreet and legal—looks innocent, no permits needed, and it’s a “politically correct” carry option in restricted places.

Bottom line: The Efficient Warrior approach ditches flashy techniques for reliable, low-effort tactics that actually stop threats and let you walk away safely. It’s about ending the fight quick, not looking cool.
